The Wild Chickens of Cayman

While enjoying the lush grounds of Silver Sands you might notice a flock of feathered friends roaming about. The chickens of Grand Cayman are wild, harmless and add that much more character to our little island. You can find them literally everywhere, from the parking lots of banks and supermarkets, to public beaches and the bush and even (disturbingly) hanging outside of KFC... if they only knew!

Some people will eat them as they are a good organic option! However it is said that their meat can be quite tough and needs to be slow cooked.

Two of the downsides to having these guys roaming free is that they don't mind what hour of the day it is, they like to make noise! 3am.... cock-a-doodle-doo!! Also they tend to hand by the sides of the road and bolt to the other side often times making them roadkill. Poor guys.

Best of Cayman Travel Guide

There is a new guide in town, a high end guide to the very best, and their name says it all, THE BEST of CAYMAN!

Striving to support local, independent businesses, Best of Cayman is a collection of hand picked things to do, places to eat, drink & visit throughout the Cayman Islands. We want to create something that inspires people to visit new places and help local, independent businesses find new customers.

We personally visit every business recommended in the guide which means, if we recommend somewhere, then our customers know they can trust our opinions based on our own experiences.

Quality is behind everything we do and we will never compromise on the quality of our work. We take every photograph ourselves to ensure that the quality is consistently high. We worry about the details from the thickness of the paper to the size of each font we use.

A picture paints a thousand words, so photography is the chosen medium to tell a story behind each of our recommendations. By bringing each business to life our aim is to inspire people to visit them themselves.

Our website, app and book are simple and user friendly. We want the medium to get out of the way so you can focus on finding great places to visit, and awesome things to do.

We want to become the most trusted travel brand in the Caribbean. Not the biggest but the most respected. We want to inspire millions of people to find new places to eat, drink and visit across these beautiful islands.

We have poured our heart and soul into making our website as easy to use and as beautiful as it can be. We are adding over fifty new attractions to the site each month, each of which we visit and photograph ourselves. We have optimised the site for search engines as well as mobile devices and currently the website experiences over 250,000 page views per month with a bounce rate of less than 1%.

We want to make it easy for visitors to our islands to discover the businesses we recommend which is why we developed the Best of Cayman App. The app includes hundreds of photos, contact details for each business and a Google map to help find each attraction. What’s more, once downloaded you don’t need a data connection to use it.

Coming Fall 2017 our first travel guide brings the Best of Cayman together into a small but mighty guide containing over 150 of our hand picked recommendations including places to visit, places to eat, things to do and more. And, crucially there is no advertising. As with everything else we do, we have taken great care with every detail of the design, even when selecting the right thickness, texture and finish of the paper.
