Kaaboo Cayman 2019

Kaaboo Cayman 2019 was quite possibly the biggest event the Cayman Islands has ever seen. The event sold a reported 10,000 tickets and 1/3 of that were off island tourists. If you are interested in Kaaboo Cayman 2020 consider staying at Silver Sands, we are about 1 mile walk away from the festival grounds, and before and after the festival you can chill out on our peaceful white sand beach and cool off in our turquoise water.

The Art
Along with the music at Kaaboo there was art, and lots of it, in lots of different forms. Live mural painting, an art gallery filled with local artist's work, henna, sculptures and more.

The Music
This years line up was a great mix of 80's & 90's rock, reggae, djs, local musicians and comedy. There is certainly something for everyone and with two stages, alternating shows, you don't have to miss a beat. Below are just a few of the performers playing for the people of Kaaboo.

The People
Smiles all around! The crowed at Kaaboo was truly Cayman Kind. Everyone had a smile on their face, everyone was having a blast. There was a respect among all the festival goers to keep things light, fun and it was evident that the local Cayman residents are something special.

Swing By and Say Hello!

Winter getting you down? Come swing by Silver Sands and enjoy the warm Caribbean sunshine, blue water and quiet beach. On your beach walks up and down the beach there are all sorts of fun things to discover. This cute swing is just north of us at Cemetery Beach, which also has a great snorkeling reef.

The 7-Mile Pelican

The Cayman Islands are home to many different bird species. Some live around the island year around and others can be seen more often during certain times of year. The Brown Pelicans tend to frequent the island more so during the winter time. This guy was cruising along the Cemetery Beach, just north of Silver Sands in true pelican form, not caring who was around, just chillin and fishin and being a beautiful pelican.

For more of Cayman's lovely birds check out another of our blog posts: Birds in Paradise

Christmas in the Caribbean

If you are staying with us at Silver Sands there are so many fun things to do during the Christmas/New Years/Holiday season. We have posted about festive Camana Bay before and there are a few houses around the island that are a Christmas wonderland that are open to the public, for kids and adults to wonder at the Christmas cheer. This house across the street from Sunset House is owned by the Bodden sisters and is always a pleasure to visit.
