Summertime Diving with the Secretary Blenny

Summer is a great time to visit us here at Silver Sands for so many reasons... the poinsianas are in bloom, the turtles are mating and nesting, the island is not busy like it is during the high season in the winter months and its mango season (more on that later!)

One of my favorite perks of Cayman summer is the diving... the water is warm and clear, we get our pick of the dive sites because of the calm water and the big stuff tends to be hanging around, such as eagle rays and if you are very lucky a manta ray or hammerhead shark.

Out doing some underwater photography with DNS today, I had the pleasure of hanging out with this little guy, identified as a Secretary Blenny. Not as big and impressive as a hammerhead, but charming none the less. He
has comfortably burrowed his way into a living coral head at Bonnie's Arch. He was very inquisitive and I got some great shots. I also like his view as seen below.
