Plant of the Month: MANGOES!!!

Here is the second in a series of featured Silver Sands flora. These grounds have so much going on it is time to explore!

There are a few mango trees scattered around the property, but you better act fast as EVERYONE wants to pick these amazing tropical fruits from the limited Silver Sands supply. Mangoes fruit during the early to mid summer here in Cayman. If you miss out on the Silver Sands supply, never fear you can purchase local mangos from The Mango Man, other roadside fruit vendors, the Wednesday Farmers Market at Camana Bay, and even keep your eye out for local supplies at Fosters and Kirks supermarkets. A Clear & Crisp Cayman Day

Popped into Silver Sands yesterday and it just happened to be a perfectly clear and crisp Cayman day. There are just no blues on earth that match our stunning stretch of 7-Mile beach and beautiful Caribbean Sea. Come see for yourself, I dare you!

Cayman Carnival: Batanabo 2015!

Batabano! The first weekend in May, Grand Cayman hosts the annual Batabano festival, or carnival. This is where "bands" sign up and deck out their following in feathers, sequins, glitter and rum, and everyone dances down 7-Mile Beach into Georgetown with Soca music playing from all directions. It is a fantastic event to participate in, or to watch on the sidelines. So much energy, dancing and amazing costumes!

There were some pretty amazing and fun moves people pulled as the masses grooved down 7-Mile. From "wining down", a popular way to dance to Soca, to a Side Crow and other yoga moves, it is a great parade to go and watch on Saturday morning if you are staying at Silver Sands. 

There were all kinds of shenanigans through out the parade and even the police officers got into the festivities!

Lots of Cayman Pride can be seen through out the parade.
